At Wellspring School of Allied Health, students are encouraged to meet the strong demand that exists for properly trained healthcare workers. Students are made to understand the importance of the role of a medical assistant in ensuring that a health care office can run properly. Students will be given all the skills to prepare them to work in this field and make positive differences to the health outcomes of the population. The curriculum includes subjects such as scheduling appointments, introduction to medical assisting, cardiopulmonary, office management, drawing blood (phlebotomy), removing sutures, injections & pharmacology, nutrition & wellness and coding/bookkeeping & billing.
Students will be given the opportunity to take part in hands-on training. The educators are all experienced professionals themselves and they will provide students the supportive and interactive learning environment they require. Furthermore, students will take part in an externship where they will be able to test their newly-acquired skills in real-life situations.
Graduates from this program are truly able to enrich the health of the communities in which they get to work. During their training, they will already build up a number of networking contacts that will help them make positive differences during their career. The curriculum places the emphasis on wellness where the patient is central. Additionally, the school understands the need for students to have flexibility during their learning career, which is why the program is delivered in convenient schedules that only require 2.5 days per week of school attention.
On completion of the program, graduates can take a range of exams, including the Phlebotomy Technician Exam, the EKG Technician Exam and the Medical Assistant Exam. Furthermore, it is possible to choose from a number of specializations, including optometry, podiatry and ophthalmology. This means that it is possible for students to immediately start advancing their career.
